How To Grow Jack Herer - the Jack Herer Phenotypes

Growing Jack Herer marijuana is considered pretty hard by many people on the different forums. But i don't quite agree with them - i find it pretty easy to grow it. There are several phenotypes of this plant since it is a complex hybrid.

What Is a Phenotype?

A phenotype is a product of a hybrid seed. A hybrid seed is created when you use one specific female plant and a father plant of another variety. Mostly this is done crossing an indica with a sativa. When you plant 10 seeds from this cross we will get different variations (called phenotypes). You might get a very sativa looking plant and a very indica looking plant. Also you will get some that bloom fast and some that takes a lot of time to finish (the most sativa dominated ones).

The Jack Herer Phenotypes

We find 4 main phenotypes in the Jack Herer seeds. 3 of the phenotypes are very sativa looking and 1 is very indica looking.

"Haze Pheno" (sativa pheno)

If i were to grow only one strain this would be my prefered one. It is just VERY POTENT - more so than any of the others. I will recognize the smoke from this single pheno if i were given 5 joints in a blind test. This is the plant that stretches the most and it takes around 70-80 days to finish of - maybe even longer if you want many of the calyxes to be amber. At 70 days you will have a lot of white hairs on the plant still. Maybe about 50% white hairs left. Most of the calyxes (the crystals) will be milky inside and some amber (maybe 10-20 % amber color).
Haze Pheno will take a loong time to start setting flowers and will look very skinny with long branches (you WILL be needing to tie her up). Even at harvest time she will be skinny. The dry bud will be skinny BUT it is the most potent weed that i have ever smoked (or vaped). After a couple of hits i got that high, that i got some of the first time trying smoking marijuana. This was just that potent. You will easily recognize this pheno. The buds just look like crap to the novice, but the patient connoisseur will know that this baby is just starting up the THC machine. Expect high quality weed that your friends will crave to get - this is not going to be a heavy harvest compared to so many other strains - or some of the other phenos.

"The Cinnamon Nugget" (sativa pheno)

This phenotype is also a sativa. It grows more nuggets like a indica but branches and stretches like a sativa. The buds will form pretty quickly with long whit hairs forming a round white bulb. The nuggets will swell until ripe around 60-70 days. At 70 days around 70% of the white hairs will be brown and buds will be hard and heavy. This pheno also needs to be tied up due to the heavy indica buds. The high from this plant is not as trippy as "Haze Pheno" but still very potent and pleasant. This is good for relaxing. If you let it flower for a long period you'll see and extra boost of growing. It will start making those sativa runners out from the buds. Still this is firm nuggets. If you leave her to grow after the 70 days she will start forming more new flower clusters sticking out from the sides. I can recommend trying to give her a couple of ekstra weeks to see her work.

"Extreme Bud Pheno" (sativa pheno)

This phenotype isn't the most potent of the phenos, but she will be the heaviest. A single main cola can be grown to weigh about an ounce and be as thick as my arm (and my arm is thick too). This is the best cropper and still some very very smokeable bud. The flowering starts early and then it just goes crazy with overloads of giant calyxes with 5-10 pistils coming out of each. It is very fun to watch how much bud is created in so short time - still takes her 70-80 days to finish of but the colas will be giants.
