Make clones of your favorite female plant and grow her again next summer.Yes, this is absolutely the choice for a lot of growers. Some growers won't be able to visit the plants every day looking for male flowers before they open and pollinate the female flowers. Therefore it is just wonderfull that we can grow females only. There even are more than one way to do this - one a little more complicated than that of the other.
The Female Seed Method
It's as simple as pie. A seed can be chemically manipulated into creating a female plant. Seed companies often use this method to create female seeds for customers. When growing these babies you just get female plants. The seeds are germinated and grown like regular seeds, but we only get girls.
This method is a little bit more challenging, but is in my opinion the top. Here what you do is take a clone of a female plant - keep it untill spring and create as many female copies as you please (unless you want A LOT - ) But a small plant kept under a cheap energy saving light bulb can easily give you 20 good clones if needed. I recommend taking just a couple of clones since you know it's all ladies. To make the mother plants obviously you will need to grow a female plant. This can be done by buying female seeds (and choose your favorite as a mother plant for future clones). Another way is to just grow regular seeds one summer. Take a clone of each plant and keep clones under an energy saving light bulb (only 1-2 inch from plant top to bulb) Keeping the clones under artificial lights are not neccessary untill end of summer. When male flowers show on male plant you remove the males - and their clones. Now you have clones all females and all you have to do is find the special female plant that grows the best bud in your soil.
Keeping the mother plant during winter
Keep a mother plant under fluorscent or energy saving bulbsKeep the mother plant of choice and prune her the whole winter untill early spring. Just cut off her shoots when they get too long. About a month before last frost you should take clones from the mother plant. As soon as plants are rooted and started growing they can be planted out after last frost. They could grow a little longer in a grow house or other protected and warm place to give them a good head start. .
