PH-down is cheap stuff! Yes, there are thousands of products out there that camouflage otherwise cheap stuff in fancy wrapping. This is indeed the case when it comes to ph-down. Most ph-down products that are sold in expensive 1/4 gallon or 1liter plastic bottles is plain battery acid and water. It's as simple as that. This acid is called H2SO4 and you can get it for something like 10$ at any car accessories shop. This sounds like a dangerous and poisonous ph-down but trust me when i say - it's all natural and IT WILL NOT HARM YOU OR YOUR PLANTS.
How To Use H2SO4 For PH-Down
This is how your plants can be looking if ph-value is offFirst of all you need to be careful when handling the stuff. You definitely don't want it on your skin, clothes OR EYES!!! That being said the stuff is not poison or anything - it's just very acid when it comes like this.
Mix the Battery Acid With Water!
What you want to do is make it a much milder solution. Do this by carefully by putting 3-4 cups of acid into a 5 liter plastic bottle. Fill up with water. It's not too important how strong the solution is - Strong makes it more dangerous to use since its more acid - also you need to use less to get the ph down.
Using The Solution To Get The PH Down
First you off course have to measure the PH-value of the water in the tank. You can get several of gadgets to do this with. Check the adds to the left of this - there's probably a few for sale there. If the PH-value goes above 6,8 or something like that you just put in some of the acid solution - half a cup or something like that. Mix it well with the water and do another measure. Continue or add more if you are way off the wished PH around 6,5.
This is bar far the best way to get your ph-value down. Stuff like vinegar or lemon juice will rot in your water - this will even provide sulfor to your plants.
